Whether you love dogs, or prefer cats, you won’t want to miss Fort Lauderdale’s 5th annual Pet Adoption Fair at War Memorial Auditorium. Held on August 23, from 10 am to 6 pm, it’s free to dog lovers and cat lovers alike, looking to give a pet a loving home.
Dogs vs. cats is of course an epic battle that comes down to plain old personal preference, just as so many things do in life, including breast implants.
If you’ve decided on getting a breast augmentation, the next thing you have to decide is which type of implant is right for you—will silicone be the cat’s meow or will saline do the trick? What’s the difference? Well, here are some guidelines to help you make the purr-fect choice:
Saline – these actually have a silicone outer shell and are inserted first, then filled with sterile salt water once in place. They tend to look and feel firm. If a rupture occurs, your body naturally absorbs the saline, but the implant will deflate and have to be replaced.
Silicone – this type is pre-filled with a silicone gel and typically looks and feels more natural. A rupture may cause distortion and possibly even pain. If this happens, you will need to have the implant removed and replaced with a new one.
Both types come in all different shapes and sizes, (just like cats and dogs!) and both are FDA-approved. As with any type of surgery, there are always some risks, and you should discuss these prior to the procedure. There are other factors to consider as well when determining whether to get silicone vs. saline, such as your body type and breast anatomy.
